El extracto de cannabis ha demostrado ser efectivo en la lucha contra el cáncer de piel (melanoma)

A groundbreaking study has unveiled an intriguing link between cannabis use and cognitive health, challenging long-standing beliefs. The research indicates that individuals who use cannabis, either recreationally or for medical purposes, report significantly fewer instances of forgetfulness and confusion compared to non-users.

This discovery is especially notable as it suggests that recreational cannabis use is associated with a substantial reduction in subjective cognitive decline (SCD)—a condition often viewed as an early indicator of dementia. Published in the esteemed Current Alzheimer Research journal, the study introduces a new dimension to the debate, highlighting the complex effects of THC on the brain.

The study reveals that recreational cannabis users are almost entirely less likely to experience SCD, boasting a remarkable 96% reduction in risk. While similar trends were observed among medical and dual-purpose users, these findings did not reach statistical significance.

Traditionally, heavy cannabis use has been linked to negative impacts on mental sharpness, including impaired memory and verbal skills. However, researchers from SUNY Upstate Medical University argue that the relationship between cannabis and cognitive health is more nuanced. They emphasize the importance of different consumption habits, types of cannabis, and reasons for use in determining cognitive outcomes.

This extensive study analyzed data from the 2021 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, focusing on adults over 45 in the U.S. It examined how various patterns of cannabis use are related to self-reported cognitive decline, taking into account factors such as frequency of use, reasons for consumption, and methods of intake.

The findings offer a beacon of hope, suggesting that cannabis may have protective benefits against cognitive decline. Researchers speculate that these benefits could be linked to cannabis's positive effects on sleep quality and stress reduction—factors that are closely associated with cognitive health and dementia risk.
